Tranformers
SKG Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures
Directed by Michael Bay
The war between the Autobots and Decepticons has now extended from Cybertron to Earth and this is where the story is situated. History of the discocery of the Transformers on Earth started with Sam Witwicky’s grandfather. They were all here in search of Allspark, a cube that gives life to machines. The Autobots want it to bring back life to their world, while the Decepticons (actually the ambition is all Megatron’s!) want to create their own army and world on Earth by turning all the machinery here rampant. Sam’s grandfather’s artifacts holds the key to the location of the cube.
I initially thought I would be disappointed in the film adaptation (ST gave it 2 stars! 2 stars!), but it wasn’t as bad. The storyline was coherent, even if a bit short. I was impressed with the Transformers figures and their transformations and the laughter it brought to me. That aside, I did find some fight scenes messy, so much so that I couldn’t tell the Autobots apart from the Decepticons. So they were not fighting among themselves right? Hehe.

[Optimus Prime] Sorry, my bad.
~ After stepping and crushing the fountain in the Witwicky backyard
Optimus Prime is the leader of of the Autobots and transforms into an 18-wheeler. He still possesses the qualities of a humble, decisive leader but with dry humour now. The few flippant remarks he made in the movie had me grinning for a long time. His tranformation is fantastic and had me gapping when he changed. Really gapping.
[Optimus Prime] Bumblebee, stop lubricating the man!
Bumblebee is my favouritest Autobot! He transforms into a (spunky, funky, monkey) Camaro and is the ultimate spy on Earth for the Autobots. Bumblebee doesn’t have much lines in the movie (in fact, just one) but his antics cracks me up mightily. From trying to get Sam hitched up to speaking to him and Mikeala through the radio to his indignation and transformation to a new Camaro, I found his actions hilarious. His unwavering loyalty to Prime and Sam is also touching. I love you Bumblebee! Marry me!
[Ironhide] (brandishing large cannons) Sam’s parents are becoming hostile… Should I take ‘em out?
[Optimus Prime] Ironhide, you know we don’t harm humans!
[Ironhide] I know, I’m just saying… it’s an option…
~ In the Witwicky backyard
Ironhide is the weapons expert in the team and trasnforms into a GMC Topkick Truck. His propensity for guns as a means of dealing with tension and situations brought on the laughs. Gotta admit he is a real asset for the team in the last showdown with Megatron, when he was protecting Sam.

[Megatron] I am…. MEGATRON!
~ In the NBE-1 hangar
Megatron is the leader of the Decpticons and transforms into a fighter jet. He is a scheming little bugger that wants to destroy the Autobots, starting with Prime. In the original series, he transforms into a hand gun of sorts – not very impressive for the leader of bad guys I must admit. n fact, I always thought Megatron was a wimp, albeit a wimp with a strong, commanding voice. Either that or all the decepticons are just dumb to follow that wimp. Ha!
Anyway, he makes for an impressive sight in this film.
[Starcream] *trasnformer noise*
Starscream is one cool, if deluded, F-22 raptor. Was that him transforming mid air and hopping from plane to plane, taking them out? Cool~! Check out the Chinese subtitle translation for Starscream. It reads “星星叫”. Hilarious.
[Blackout] All hail Megatron!
Blackout is the one that transform into a helicopter and initiated the infiltration into the United States Defence system.
You notice I dont’t write much on the Decepticons, no surprise that I favor the Autobots right?
Go watch it! It rocks.
